Who is Angela?

I am excited to tell you a bit about myself – and why I have chosen to certify as a Doula (Labour/Birth and Postpartum) as well as Perinatal Educator.

My history supporting new parents through pregnancy goes back to when I was 19 years old.  While taking the Social Service Worker program at Centennial College, I interned at a pregnancy home located in South-Western Ontario.  It was there that I came to understand the challenge of a crises pregnancy.

Fast forward to a few years after my second child’s birth in 2003. I found myself without my former spouse during most of my pregnancy and birthing experience.  This was not what I had expected. But, once I had settled into the hospital, I was fortunate that my sister and friend showed up to provide support and comfort.

Soon after this experience my heart’s desire became obvious; I wanted to provide the same support and comfort to other new parents. No birthing person should be alone during pregnancy, birth and postpartum.  I volunteered as a birth coach at the Pregnancy Care Centre in Toronto and had the privilege of volunteering as a birth coach at the birth of 4 babies while supporting their mothers prenatally and a few weeks postpartum.

Despite the experience as a volunteer birth coach, I recognized I needed training. And that is why I started to train with Doula Canada in May 2020 and certified in June 2021.

As your Doula, my goal is to provide you with compassionate, non-judgemental and evidence-based education and support during your pregnancy, labour, birth  and early Postpartum.
